Displaced residents entitled to benefits are given several options:
Based on history and surveys, it is known that self-resettlement is overwhelmingly preferred by residents who want to move to cities and invest their compensation in a small business, while state resettlement is preferred by a subset of residents who seek to relocate and start or continue farming with government land grants.
The EIA admits the issues with past resettlement efforts and recommends a number of measures to improve the process. These include job and skills training to be provided to resettlers at community centers, public meetings and postings to inform residents of their options and rights, as well as post-resettlement monitoring to evaluate the quality-of-life of resettlers and respond appropriately if it declines.

- Government resettlement with state-constructed housing on publicly-owned land,
- Resettlement with government-constructed infrastructure in the case where a community elects to be resettled together.
